CORNELIUS, NC ’Äì As a working mom with two young children under the age of two, Julie Yenichek knew the demands of bathing two kids and making an 8 a.m. conference call. Through a few soggy mornings, she knew there had to be a better way for parents to get through bathtime with their kids without getting soaked.  Hence, the Yeni" was born.

"It started out as something I had a friend stitch up for my own needs---- a towel-like apron, with cute fabric and trim that my husband or I could slip over our clothes when bathing our son," says Julie Yenichek, founder and creator of the Yeni. "I then had friends that were new parents or pet owners that saw it, and had to have one for themselves!"

Now, nearly two years later, the Yeni is officially born and the rest is history. Yenichek worked to refine her bath apron while pregnant with her second child, sourcing a textile mill in Conover, N.C. to create the super-soft and absorbent terry pile for the body of the apron. From there, the plush terrycloth is sent to Hildebran, N.C. where a team of seasoned seamstresses, some of them grandmothers, stitch together the patent-pending aprons with tender loving care.

"Living in the heart of the textile country, it was important to me that this be made locally, not overseas," she says.

This month, Yenichek is officially launching her website for Yenithing.  Through the website, you can order one of her customized Yeni towel aprons, choosing from six different fabrics with baby or pet themes. The aprons can then further be customized with monogrammed initials, names or short phrases in a variety of colors.

"The Yeni is the perfect combination of gift-giving style and function. It's beautiful, individual, and completely wearable for bathing your baby", said customer Emily Fowler. "After I received one for myself, the Yeni became my signature baby shower gift."

But it's also perfect for pet owners that bathe their furry friends inside. The cute fabrics, trims and ability to customize the unique gift has also earned the Yeni a spot in some of Charlotte North Carolina's trendiest shops including Poppies and Polka Dots.
